How to Protect Yourself from the Sun… Indoors and Outdoors

Even if it’s not summer, you should know how to protect yourself from the sun. Too much exposure can put you at risk for skin cancer, while too little can leave you with a lack of Vitamin D. It’s fun to spend time in the sun, but there’s no arguing that too much exposure can bring you down. Sunburns, skin cancer, and even furniture damage is possible when you don’t keep track of your exposure. Here are some tips for protecting you and your home throughout the year.

1. Wear sunscreen

This is something we’ve all heard before. But ultraviolet (UV) rays are super damaging-  too much exposure can lead to skin cancer. Make sure you lather on the lotion about 15 minutes before you head outside. And don’t forget to reapply every couple of hours.

2. Limit your time outside

Summers are a great time to go outside, be active, or just lounge by the pool. But the sun’s rays are the most powerful mid-day. Try to avoid exposing yourself to a ton of sunlight from 10 am- 4 pm.

3. Protect your home with window tints

You already know that the sun’s rays can damage you and your loved ones’ skin when you’re outside. But you may not know that it can also harm you when you’re inside. If your windows aren’t strong enough to block out the sun, your skin and furniture can possibly be damaged.

There’s a solution to give you peace of mind. Solar control films can protect you from the sun, without taking away from your style. These films can filter up to 99.9% of the sun’s harmful rays. This means your carpets, floors, and furniture will maintain their color, and your family doesn’t have to worry about sun damage either.
